Well, not really mended, just removed the buried battery from this POS Pontiac Montana we're sending to auction later this week. It was stone dead and it'd never charge if I tried to do it though the jump locations. The front tires also had slow leaks from the bead so I slathered some bead sealer on them. It's always nice to take a break from cleaning cars and do some light mechanical work.
I'm honestly terrified that people actually DD pieces of unsafe crap like this.

I hate buried batteries....seriously, who though of that?

This wasn't terrible and I wouldn't have had to remove the battery itself if it wasn't a side post, but it has some cross support bar and the fuse box blocking it.
Sebring/Stratus/Avenger/200/Journeys are awful to do. For whatever reason, Chrysler decided to put the batter in the driver side fender so you have to remove the wheel to get to it. The current gen Durango (and I presume the Grand Cherokee as well) has it under the front passenger seat which is annoying too.
I'm of the opinion that a battery should be easily accessible.

you are of the correct opinion.

I have two friends whose moms had montanas. One looks just like the one in your pics, albeit not as shitty looking (this isn't in NJ right? lol). My friend turned on the defroster one time in the winter and the back window literally exploded, he's been afraid to touch a defroster since. I think that van was traded in on an edge with like 120k miles on it.
The other one that another friends mom has is sadly still around with I believe over 200k on it, and while it looks okay from 10 feet away, it is such an unreliable piece of shit. To the extent that one of the doors fell off at one point.

Are there no safety inspections where you live?

Never going to buy a car from you guys.

We're not selling this through the dealership but through an auction house. The cars there come from dealers all over and are often no better if not worse.

NY so not far off! This thing is in terrible condition, but they're junk to begin with.
I slammed a door once on a Dakota and blew out the window and I've been careful about that since, so I can relate there.

Yes, safety/emmsions. This last passed in December 2011, so it was valid until last December. The regi expired January 2013, so I guess this hasn't been on the road after all. But who knows.

Just givin' you a yank. I know about those auctions. Gotta tread lightly or you can screw yourself.

On the few occasions I've had to go there to pick up a vehicle that didn't sell, I've seen some really cool rides. The last time I went I saw a 996 Carerra, RS4, S2K, and a few other assorted jalop-worthy cars. The problem is that it's buyer beware. You have to figure that the dealer didn't keep the car for a reason. But some are genuinely nice, they just languished on whatever lot they were on. We sent a 2013 Fusion Ecoboost there a month or two ago. It had less than 4k miles on it.

Wow. Hard to believe you could not sell a Fusion. But you're probably not a Ford dealer?

Nope, Dodge. And it was a really nice car, it just didn't get any interest. Used car sales seems to have slowed down in general lately.
